How to read this page. The quarter-final dates, venues and kickoff times are already fixed. The eight teams are not: the Round of 16 runs from 4 to 7 July, and its winners fill the four last-eight slots below. As of 2 July the Round of 32 is nearly complete, so two of the four quarters already have all their possible teams confirmed. We show every slot by its bracket position and the matchups the results point toward, then how the winners advance to the semi-finals and the MetLife final.

What the quarter-finals are in 2026

The last eight is the same stage by name as in every recent World Cup, but in the 48-team format the teams reach it having played more knockout football than ever before.

In the old 32-team World Cup a quarter-finalist had won a single knockout tie, the Round of 16, straight after the groups. In 2026 the group stage produces 32 qualifiers who first contest the brand-new Round of 32 (28 June to 3 July), then the Round of 16 (4 to 7 July). Only then come the quarter-finals, from 9 to 11 July. Every team in the last eight has therefore already won two knockout ties, so this is the deepest, most attritional route to a semi-final the tournament has ever asked for.

Every match from the Round of 32 onward is single elimination. There are no draws and no replays: a tie level after 90 minutes goes to extra time and, if still level, a penalty shootout. Two of the Round of 32 ties feeding this stage were already settled that way, Paraguay knocking out Germany on penalties and Morocco beating the Netherlands on penalties, a reminder of how fine the margins become from here.

All four quarter-finals

Boston opens the round, Los Angeles follows, and Miami and Kansas City stage a double-header on the Saturday. Each tie is fed by two specific Round of 16 winners, so the venue and date of every slot is locked even before the teams are known. Times shown are Eastern Time kickoff hints.

Every quarter-final is in the United States. The last World Cup matches outside the US, at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City and BC Place in Vancouver, are played in the Round of 16, so from here the tournament stays on American soil. How each quarter-final is fed

The pairings lock once the Round of 16 finishes on 7 July, but with the Round of 32 nearly done the picture is already sharp. Two of the four quarters have every possible team confirmed.

Boston quarter
Match 97All four set
Winner 89 vs Winner 90. Round of 16 Match 89 is France against Paraguay in Philadelphia, and Match 90 is co-hosts Canada against Morocco in Houston. All four came through the Round of 32, so this Gillette Stadium quarter-final is fully populated: a title favourite, the giant-killer that dumped out Germany, a home nation, and the 2022 semi-finalists.
Miami quarter
Match 99All four set
Winner 91 vs Winner 92. Round of 16 Match 91 is Brazil against Norway at MetLife, and Match 92 is hosts Mexico against England at the Estadio Azteca. Again all four are through, so the Hard Rock Stadium quarter-final is set to draw from Brazil, Haaland's Norway, El Tri and the Three Lions.
Los Angeles quarter
Match 98Part set
Winner 93 vs Winner 94. Match 93 in Dallas pairs the winners of Portugal against Croatia and Spain against Austria; Match 94 in Seattle pairs the winner of the United States against Bosnia and Herzegovina with Belgium, who are already through. This SoFi Stadium quarter draws from Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Austria, Belgium and the co-hosts USA.
Kansas City quarter
Match 100Argentina's side
Winner 95 vs Winner 96. Match 95 in Atlanta pairs the winners of Argentina against Cape Verde and Australia against Egypt; Match 96 in Vancouver pairs the winners of Switzerland against Algeria and Colombia against Ghana. The defending champions headline this Arrowhead Stadium quarter, which is still to take shape as the Round of 32 finishes on 3 July.

The ties the bracket points toward

Nothing is guaranteed until the Round of 16 is played, but the structure already tells us which last-eight collisions are live.

France or Paraguay vs Canada or Morocco
Match 97Boston
Why it is live: with all four teams confirmed, the Boston quarter-final is the clearest in the bracket. France arrive as many people's favourites, but Paraguay have already knocked out Germany, Morocco reached the 2022 semi-finals, and Canada carry a home crowd. Whichever pair survives the Round of 16 meets at Gillette Stadium on 9 July.
Brazil or Norway vs Mexico or England
Match 99Miami
Why it is live: the Miami quarter could serve up Brazil against England, or hosts Mexico deep into the tournament, or Norway and Haaland gatecrashing the last four. All four are through the Round of 32, so this Hard Rock Stadium tie on 11 July has genuine heavyweight potential.
Spain's route through LA
Match 98Los Angeles
Why it matters: Spain and Portugal both sit in the SoFi Stadium quarter, alongside Belgium and a live USA slot. If the seeds hold this points toward an Iberian heavyweight reaching the last eight, with the co-hosts a threat to upset it, on 10 July.
Argentina's Kansas City quarter
Match 100Kansas City
Why it matters: defending champions Argentina headline the Arrowhead quarter, with Colombia, Ghana, Switzerland, Algeria, Australia, Egypt and debutants Cape Verde all still in the picture. It is the least-settled of the four, and one of the most winnable-looking for a top seed.

How the last eight splits

The four quarter-finals divide into two halves that meet only in the final. Knowing which quarter a team lands in tells you its route to New York and New Jersey.

The top half, the Boston and Los Angeles quarter-finals, funnels into the semi-final at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on 14 July. On current form this is the side built around France and Spain, with Portugal, Morocco, Belgium, hosts Canada and giant-killers Paraguay all in the mix.

The bottom half, the Miami and Kansas City quarter-finals, funnels into the semi-final at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on 15 July. That is the loaded side, holding Brazil, Argentina, England and hosts Mexico. Because the two South American giants sit on the same side, Brazil and Argentina can meet only in the Atlanta semi-final, and just one can reach the MetLife final. The full picture is in our knockout bracket guide.

From the last eight to the final

Win a quarter-final and the path to the MetLife final is two matches, both on US soil.

Semi-finals · 14 and 15 July

Match 101 · AT&T Stadium, Arlington (Dallas)
Tue 14 Jul

Match 103 · Hard Rock Stadium, Miami
Sat 18 Jul
Final: Winner 101 vs Winner 102
Match 104 · MetLife Stadium, New York and New Jersey · 3pm ET

The Boston and Los Angeles quarter-final winners resolve into the Dallas semi-final; the Miami and Kansas City winners resolve into the Atlanta semi-final. The two semi-final winners then contest the MetLife Stadium final on 19 July, while the beaten semi-finalists meet in the third-place play-off at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on 18 July.

Frequently asked questions

When are the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals?
The four quarter-finals are played over three days from Thursday 9 July to Saturday 11 July 2026. Boston opens the round on 9 July, Los Angeles follows on 10 July, and Miami and Kansas City stage a double-header on 11 July. It is the third knockout round of the 48-team format, sitting between the Round of 16 (4 to 7 July) and the semi-finals (14 and 15 July). The dates, kickoff times and venues are already fixed; only the eight teams are confirmed once the Round of 16 finishes on 7 July.
Where are the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals played?
All four quarter-finals are in the United States: Gillette Stadium in the Boston area (Foxborough) on 9 July, SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles (Inglewood) on 10 July, Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on 11 July, and Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on 11 July. From the quarter-finals onward every match is on US soil, after the last matches in Mexico and Canada are played in the Round of 16.
How are the quarter-final matchups decided?
Each quarter-final is fed by two specific Round of 16 winners, and the bracket is pre-set. The Boston quarter-final (Match 97) pairs the winners of Round of 16 matches 89 and 90; the Los Angeles quarter-final (Match 98) pairs the winners of matches 93 and 94; the Miami quarter-final (Match 99) pairs the winners of matches 91 and 92; and the Kansas City quarter-final (Match 100) pairs the winners of matches 95 and 96. The venue and date of each slot are locked in advance, so only the teams change once the Round of 16 is played from 4 to 7 July.
Which teams have reached the quarter-finals?
No team is in the quarter-finals yet as of 2 July, because the Round of 16 has not been played. The picture is clear in two quarters, though. The Boston quarter-final will be contested by the winners of Paraguay against France and Canada against Morocco, all four already through the Round of 32. The Miami quarter-final will be contested by the winners of Brazil against Norway and Mexico against England, again all four confirmed. The Los Angeles and Kansas City quarters still depend on Round of 32 ties completing on 2 and 3 July and then the Round of 16.
What are the possible quarter-final matchups?
The Boston quarter-final could produce France or Paraguay against Canada or Morocco, a mix of a title favourite, a giant-killer that knocked out Germany, the co-hosts and the 2022 semi-finalists. The Miami quarter-final could produce Brazil or Norway against Mexico or England, potentially Brazil against England, or hosts Mexico on a run. The Los Angeles quarter-final draws from Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Austria, Belgium, the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the Kansas City quarter-final is the Argentina quarter, also holding Colombia, Ghana, Switzerland, Algeria, Australia, Egypt and debutants Cape Verde.
What are the quarter-final kickoff times?
In Eastern Time the slots are: Boston on 9 July at 4pm, Los Angeles on 10 July at 3pm (12pm local Pacific Time), Miami on 11 July at 5pm, and Kansas City on 11 July at 9pm (8pm local Central Time). Because the venues span three US time zones, always check the local conversion for the stadium before kickoff. The WorldCuply.com schedule shows every kickoff in your own time zone.
How do the quarter-finals feed the semi-finals?
The four quarter-final winners pair off into two semi-finals. The Boston and Los Angeles winners meet in the semi-final at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on 14 July, and the Miami and Kansas City winners meet in the semi-final at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on 15 July. The two semi-final winners contest the final at MetLife Stadium in the New York and New Jersey area on 19 July, while the losers meet in the third-place play-off in Miami on 18 July.
What happens if a quarter-final is level after 90 minutes?
There are no draws in the knockout rounds. If a quarter-final is level after 90 minutes it goes to two periods of 15 minutes of extra time, and if it is still level after that it is settled by a penalty shootout. There is no replay and no away-goals rule. Two of the Round of 32 ties feeding this stage, Germany against Paraguay and the Netherlands against Morocco, were already decided on penalties, a reminder of how fine the margins become.
Are Brazil and Argentina in the same half of the draw?
Yes. Both South American giants sit in the bottom half that funnels through the Miami and Kansas City quarter-finals into the Atlanta semi-final on 15 July. Brazil are in the Miami quarter after coming through the Round of 32, and Argentina, the defending champions, headline the Kansas City quarter. That means the two can only meet in the semi-final, not the final, and only one of them can reach MetLife. The top half, feeding the Dallas semi-final, is where France, Spain and Portugal sit.
How is the 2026 quarter-final stage different from past World Cups?
The quarter-finals are still the last eight, but in the 48-team 2026 format the teams arrive having played more knockout football than ever before. After a group stage of 12 groups, the 32 qualifiers play the new Round of 32, then the Round of 16, then the quarter-finals. A quarter-finalist has therefore already won two knockout ties rather than one, so the last eight is reached only after a longer, more attritional road than in the old 32-team tournament.
