About Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth spent most of their history in the lower divisions after forming in 1899, and as recently as 2009 they were 91st in the Football League and hours from going out of business. What followed is one of English football's great climbing stories.

Eddie Howe took the Cherries from League Two to the Premier League in six seasons, sealing promotion to the top flight for the first time in 2015. The Vitality Stadium, with a capacity around 11,300, remains the smallest ground in Premier League history, and opponents still hate visiting it.

Under Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth have evolved from survivors into one of the division's most watchable pressing sides, regularly beating established top-six clubs. For a town of under 200,000 people, sustained Premier League football is an achievement few outside Dorset thought possible.
