About Aston Villa

Aston Villa are one of English football's founding institutions: formed in 1874, a founder member of the Football League in 1888, and the driving force behind its creation. Villa Park has hosted top-flight football since 1897 and remains one of the great traditional grounds in the country.

Villa's golden eras bookend a century. Seven league titles and seven FA Cups arrived mostly before the Second World War, and then in 1982 Tony Barton's side conquered the continent, beating Bayern Munich 1-0 in Rotterdam to lift the European Cup.

The modern Villa have re-emerged as a European regular, returning to the Champions League in 2024/25 for the first time in over four decades. With one of the loudest home crowds in the Premier League behind them, the claret and blue faithful expect big-six scalps at Villa Park every season.
